What is Charityfest?

Dear fellow employees,
Partners in Business is pleased to announce Charityfest 2009, an event this year that will emphasize one of the best things we’ve done collectively throughout the years—charitable giving. We hope that everyone will support this charitable event and that you will continue to support events like this one in the future.

Charityfest 2009 will include a Silent Auction, Charity Raffle, and 50/50 Raffle. It will take place December 11 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in the Boylston cafeteria. We will be serving light refreshments.

On the day of Charityfest, the Way-To-Go Award winners will be presented, and an acknowlegement of the significant contribution that employees have made to Rosie’s Place will be made.

You can purchase your 50/50 Raffle tickets right now by coming to the Boylston cafeteria between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. this week (beginning November 30) and next week (up until December 11). At the same time, we are conducting a Food Drive to benefit The Greater Boston Food Bank (canned or dry goods only). We will also preview some of the Silent Auction items.

We encourage you to donate items for the Silent Auction and Charity Raffle. Please read the information below this message. All donated items will be displayed for live viewing along with a preview of the items posted on the PIB blog.

What to donate?
Popular items in the past have included:
• Employee-produced artwork
• Employee time and talent (in-kind), such as a golf lesson or a photo session. Please contact Al Velasquez to make an in-kind donation. • Homemade crafts, such as sweaters and baked goods If you are donating baked goods, please make sure they are in an AIRTIGHT hard plastic or metal container, both for freshness and pest deterrence.
• Tickets to sporting events, plays, and concerts

Please note that items should be in new or like-new condition, in the original, unopened packages.

When to donate?
You may donate items through Monday, December 7.

Boston PIB Photo Contest Ends…

The Boston PIB Walks Photo Contest is officially over. We want to thank the following employees for submitting photographs for consideration and judging: Zareh Artinian, Lori-Anne Cohen, Amy Joyce, Emily Lalka, Ann McNally, Becky Napoleon, Al Velasquez, Amanda Watters, Jeff Wickersty, and Michelle York.

Boston PIB Walks Photo Contest Kick-Off

To coincide with the PIB Autumn Walks we are happy to announce our PIB Walks Photo Contest open to Curriculum Group and FEN (Family Education Network) employees. Any employee armed with a digital camera is encouraged to enter.

The simple rules are:
• Open to Curriculum Group and FEN employees (only)
• Entries will be accepted from Thursday, October 1 up to an including Friday, October 30, 2009 (no extensions beyond deadline)
• Each employee may submit up to two photographs for consideration
• Photos may be black & white or color
• Submissions should be print-quality digital (jpeg files please)
• Photos will be judged on their interpretation of the theme “Lunch Time Walks,” and should be taken within walking distance of 501 Boylston
• Entries will appear on PIB’s blog and will be posted in the cafeteria. Winning photographs will be displayed in the 9th floor library.

Boston PIB Autumn Walks Begin are set to begin in October

Walking Buddies

Join us for a 30-minute walk every other Thursday in October. Rain or shine, the walking group will meet on the steps in front of the 501 Boylston entrance at 12:30 pm.

10/1/09 Join us for a walk through the Public Garden and Boston Common to kick off our fall photography contest. Don’t forget your walking shoes and camera.

10/15/09 Join us for a walk along Newbury Street and Boylston Street.

10/29/09 Join us for a walk around the Commonwealth Mall.

PIB Ice Cream Event—update!

Thank you to all employees who donated food during the PIB Ice Cream event. Your donations of 797 lbs of food amounts to 613 meals that The Greater Boston Food Bank will be able to provide needy families in greater Boston and Massachusetts.

This event takes place July 8 and 3:00 p.m. at the Boylston Cafeteria. All Curriculum Group employees are encouraged and are welcomed to participate. We ask for a charitable donation of healthy food items which in turn will be donated to The Greater Boston Food Bank to supplement the growing food needs of families experiencing hardship in Massachusetts.
